A Mauritius Island Vacation
Itinerary
If your
interests during your Mauritius vacation tend to go
beyond the beach and you find yourself interested in
seeing some of the other sites, then may we recommend a
visit to the North of Mauritius to see the biggest Hindu
Shrine in Mauritius, Triolet Shivala, also known as the
Maheshwarnath temple. Originally constructed in 1819 for
the worship of Gods such as Shiva, Vishnu and Krishna,
among others.
If you have an interest in gardening, a stop at the
Pamplemousses Botanical Garden located in Pamplemousses,
would be worth an afternoon's visit. Many exotic plants
and tropical fruit trees are on exhibit. One's sense
will be attacked by the vibrant colors and smells of the
gardens.
Then heading east, for a little homespun shopping at the
Flacq Markets. Flacq is an important and very bustling
village with the largest open air market. Thousands meet
there daily to buy and sell various local goods and
fares.
Water park Leisure Village is also in the East of
Mauritius Island. As the name implies you will thrill at
the acceleration down the waterslides into the Black
Hole. It really does make for a memorable trip and one
the kids will be bragging to their friends about for
years to come.
Another family ride would be on a river skiff down the
Grand River Southeast, the longest river on the island.
The area has several waterfalls as well. Visiting these
can be something to talk about for years as well, as
people make their living exhibiting their diving skill s
form the very top of some of them. You just have to hold
your breath at moments.
Ile aux Cerfs is a small but picturesque island off the
eastern coast of Mauritius. It is adorned with one of
the most beautiful beaches anywhere in the world and
many water sport activities are available on a day trip
basis or longer.
Ile aux Cerfs is also home to one of the best golf
courses on Mauritius and where several competitions have
been held.
Take a heading to the south east of Mauritius and you
will find Ile aux Aigrettes. It is an owned possession
of Mauritius Island and houses a wildlife protective
area. It is controlled by the Mauritius Wildlife
Foundation and has attained international accreditation.
It is home to the rare and unique Pink Pigeon. It also
is home to the Green Cecko Phelsuma and the aldabra,
which is a specie of giant tortoise.
Still in the mood for more adventure? A visit to Blue
Bay Beach may up your alley. Again, beautiful beaches
and water sport activities. To get there, you will pass
through Mahebourg, an important fishing region of the
island. Be sure to have a fine dinner at one of the
wonderful restaurants there. Seafood of course!
Our website, MauritiusVacation.Net, endeavors to
describe the wonderful opportunities available to
vacationers looking for new location for adventure,
romance, and adventure. And to give a little background
that would be of interest to new visitors. To say
nothing of being a superbly relaxing venue, the Island
of Mauritius offers friendly reception in both urban,
rural and beach settings.
